Letter from Canon Vivien Elphick, Team Rector of the churches of the Woodfield Team

Dear All,

You may have heard that the Church of England has suspended all public worship. This means that Sunday and Wednesday services are suspended with immediate effect. We have also suspended midweek activities. We can lead funerals under limited circumstances but for the moment cannot hold baptisms or weddings.

We have to develop a way to be church when we cannot meet physically together. With that in mind, we are suggesting that as many as possible join with us in daily prayer (in their homes or wherever they are) at 9am and 5pm. I will be adding resources to help with that on to the website and we have got hard copies out as well.

I know how difficult and distressing this is for many. Please do be assured of the love and prayers of all of us in the Team.

Public worship was suspended following the Prime Minister’s speech on Monday 16th March, asking us to avoid all ‘non essential social contact. The Church of England suspended public worship until further notice. You can read the Archbishop’s letter here /content/pages/documents/1584472701.pdf. You will read there that the Church of England is going to look very different in the days ahead. It will be less characterised by going to church on Sunday, and more by the prayer and service we offer each day. So let’s rise to the challenge. A further letter followed on 24th March and can be viewed at /content/pages/documents/1585323778.pdf
